Your Guide to Our Favorite Aroma Blends

Which Aroma is calling to you?

Aveda is founded on Ayurvedic Principles, and centers its product formulation and rituals around balancing the body and mind through natural means.

Sometimes even the mention of aromatherapy can be overwhelming, like there is too much that we don’t know to even get started. Luckily, Aveda’s pre-blended aroma blends were created to ease this overwhelm with a few curated options for everyone.

Today, I want to introduce you to our favorite blends that we use throughout our services here at the salon, how they can help bring balance to your everyday life, and a few tips and tricks that we’ve picked up along the way!

1. Stress-Fix

Aveda’s Signature Stress-Fix Blend is a fan favorite around the salon, and for good reason! We use it to address everything stress-related including headaches, muscle tension, racing thoughts, and uneasiness.

The main ingredients in this blend include french lavender, Lavandin, & Clary Sage.
The base of this oil is made up of Sunflower Oil, Olive Oil, and Vitamin E Extract.

Our tip for a Midday Stress Reset:
  • If you notice your eyes getting tired, the beginnings of a headache, or some neck tension, take a bit of Stress-Fix Oil on your finger tips and press them into your temples.
  • While gently pressing, tune in to your breathing and begin to elongate your inhales and exhales.
  • Enjoy the calming scents of lavender and clary sage while you breathe deeply and intentionally for a few minutes.

2. Beautifying

Beautifying is an absolute hit with our Daymakers here at Hues. We all agree it is the most universal aroma blend, and we use it all the time!
This blend is interesting because there’s something for just about everyone!

Check out the main aromas:
Lavender, Bergamot, and Rosemary
And the base blend:
Soybean, Safflower, and Olive Oil

So with notes of Lavender (famously calming and centering) and Bergamot (which is known to raise energy levels and motivation), our intention when using this oil is to sharpen focus and be fully present with every moment the day brings.

Our tips to Beautify your Day:

  • Apply a couple of drops of oil onto your wrists and wave them in front of your face, taking some deep breaths as it settles into your skin.
  • Place your hands on a tabletop, spreading your fingers wide. Gently lean forward, stretching your wrists and forearms.
  • Take a few deep breaths before turning your hands so that the tops of your hands are flat on the table, and repeat the stretch.
  • Do this a few times during your work day, especially if you work with your hands or type on the computer.

3. Shampure

If you’re familiar with Aveda products, you are probably no stranger to the infamous Shampure aroma blend. It’s a fan favorite with many notes to enjoy, including
Lemon, Lavender, Ylang Ylang, and Rosemary and a buttery base of Sunflower Seed Oil and Vitamin E Extract.

Perfect for an everyday aroma, this clean scent can be added to your favorite moisturizer or bath ritual.

Our tips for Sham-purifying your day:

  • After showering, add 3-5 drops of Shampure Blend to your favorite moisturizer or body butter.
  • Apply to the arms and legs, focusing on the elbows, knees, and ankles (where we tend to need the most moisture).
  • Give yourself a hand massage by using your thumb to apply gentle pressure while squeezing in between the knuckles and rubbing over the fingers one by one.

4. Cooling Oil

This summer, Cooling Oil has been our best friend. Not only does its bright scent help with that heat-wave lethargy we all experience, but it’s actually cooling to the touch and is a perfect addition to a cold towel on a hot day.

Cooling Oil is specially formulated with Peppermint, Menthol, and Chamomile, with a base of Sunflower Seed Oil.

Our Tips for Cooling Off this summer:

  • Apply 1-2 drops of Cooling Oil onto a cold, damp towel.
  • Place the towel on the back of your neck and take 5 deep breaths.
  • Use two fingers to place a drop of oil on both temples and gently massage to relieve any tension you may be holding.
